How to size a Player kit without returning it
Player builds run one size tighter than fan cuts. Here is how to measure before you order.
The single most common return we process is a Player version kit that fitted like a compression top. That is not a manufacturing fault, it is what a Player build is: cut to sit close to the body so it does not flap when someone is sprinting in it.
Measure the shirt, not yourself
Body measurements are the least reliable way to size a football kit. Take a shirt you already own and like the fit of, lay it flat, and measure armpit to armpit. Double that number. That is your chest measurement in the same terms our size chart uses.
What the numbers mean
A Player L measures 40 to 42 inches across the chest. A Master L measures 42 to 44. Two inches sounds trivial on paper and is very obvious on the body.
When to size up
Size up if you are between two sizes, if you intend to wear a base layer underneath, or if you simply prefer room through the midsection. If you want the on-pitch silhouette, stay true to size.
If you want the relaxed fit without doing arithmetic, buy the Master version instead. That is what it is for.
